Current Prayer Requests for the the Black Family
- Pray for the upcoming year at our Bible School. The students will be on break in August and coming back to school in September. We have been working diligently to create awareness for the school in order to bring in more students. We need to recruit about 40 more students before the school will be financially independent.
-
Please pray for wisdom for the administrators of the Bible School as we contemplate important decisions concerning the school. One of the things we are considering is moving the location of the school to a more central location that is accessible with public transportation.
-
Please pray for sustained health within our family. Some of the children have had a bad cough and Eric has been battling with malaria again.
- Pray for Eric and Cindy that they will find a reliable, diligent, and trustworthy worker to come and help in the house. Much of our time and energy is spent on just living here. With low-cost labor, it makes a lot of sense to find a house helper to alleviate some of the burden and allow us to focus on other things. Before traveling to the US, we had somebody helping us, but it didn’t work out.
- Pray for our new van as it comes from Togo. It is hard to commit to buying a vehicle that we haven't seen and touched and driven in person. But nobody recommends buying a van in Nigeria. It will likely either be in poor mechanical condition or it will be stolen. So we have a contact who travels to Togo to buy cars imported directly from Europe. He will pick one out, email the details, and we will pay for it when it arrives. All we can do is put it in God's hands.
- We are also praying for another full-time missionary or missionary family to come alongside us for the work in Aba. When the short term team was here, we came to realize how the spiritual, emotional, and social burdens are lifted when you have a local partner.
- Please pray for the children as they embark on a new school year. We are starting very early in an attempt to finish by early March next year as we anticipate another visit to the USA.

>>> Against all Hope: Hope for Africa(pdf 679kb)
This 60-page booklet examines the situation in Africa today from the vantage point of a distinctively biblical worldview and argues that true hope for transformation lies with the rapidly expanding African Church practicing a wholistic ministry and taking biblical truth boldly into every sphere of society.
This booklet was produced by the Disciple Nations Alliance in cooperation with Samaritan Strategy Africa, a team of African leaders who have banded together to execute an ambitious plan to take the DNA teaching across the continent.
The DNA is a cooperative ministry of Harvest and Food for the Hungry.
